WE REVERSED TWO CONTEMPT CITATIONS FOR A PREGNANT VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

What a way to end the day!

As part of our public service commitment, the firm represented pro bono a woman of lower means who was pregnant and a victim of domestic violence.  She was wrongly held in contempt, TWICE, in Orange County.  The Court of Appeal, after reading my writ on the issue issued an order to show cause why the contempt citations should not be reversed.  After oral argument last week, the attached written opinion followed which was released just now.  This is the EXACT reason why I became an attorney.  Being effective by making real differences in people’s lives is the reason I appreciate being a bonafide, practicing attorney.

The opinion is attached as a pdf here:  orderreversingcontempt or as a link here for AOL/MAC or .dat issues:  https://ronaldrichards.com/media/203.pdf

Kelly Bryan is a good friend of Joe Pesci and we really wanted to get some law on the new statute, Civil Code section 1219 which protects victims of domestic violence.  I am so happy for her and now her newborn baby.
